Business Project:

It was agreed that the department required an improved way of communicating the requirements and legislation of Tier 2 sponsorship to the Regional Optician and Pharmacy Managers in addition to a process to help with the transition onto a new way of checking right to work across all the UK stores.


Sarah developed an e-learning training programme to communicate the requirements around Tier 2 sponsorship, to outline the responsibilities for the Regional Managers and to ensure that the team knew about the processes involved in this, including the tracking and reporting of key data to ensure the business remained compliant with the UKVI requirements. Our Director worked with a number of people in the business such as the Head of Resourcing, the UK Operations Team, Graphic Designers and the Employee Relations Advisors, in addition to external stakeholders such as Training Platform Developers, the UKVI team and Fragoman’s Solicitors.


"I worked with Sarah in my role as operations manager for the pharmacy and opticians business in Tesco. During that time we recruited a number of pharmacists from abroad and it was essential for the business that we complied with all relevant legislation and checks. Completing all the checks accurately and keeping clear, complete and consistent records was a real challenge with more than 400 pharmacies and 200 opticians located throughout the UK.

Sarah took on the challenge and led an innovative solution which used interactive online training helping our regional pharmacy and opticians managers understand the Tier 2 registration process, their role in recruitment and the record keeping we needed. The online nature of the training ensured that, not only our teams were well trained but that the business had clear records of who had been trained and as a result of a quiz at the end of the course reassurance the training had been understood. As well as being a cost effective method to deliver training to dispersed teams the training was simple to use for both refresher training and new starters. As a result of the process and training Sarah developed we ensured strong compliance in Tesco to this important legislation and helped ensure all our teams had the correct right to work in our stores.

Since this training which was the first of its kind in Tesco online training with validation checks has become a standard way to deliver key legal compliance training and record keeping in the group. Throughout the project Sarah worked closely with the key stakeholders ensuring they had the opportunity to add feedback and builds into the project.​"
